Emergency Special: Do you know the hate business? - 2015-06-30 21:54:46

Fuji TV subtitling error has South Koreans say they 'hate' Japan(The Independent)

In today's Japan, hate-Korea/China contents have grown into big business. Many Japanese blogs have propagated anti-Korea/China false rumors for money, many publishers have published "hate" books, some TV and radio stations have made "hate" programs.

On June 5, 2015, one of major Japanese TV stations Fuji TV broadcast "Friday Premium - Akira Ikegami's Emergency Special! Seemingly we know but don't know well mystery of Korea".

This photograph is an advertisement for the program on a newspaper:

Blurb: Do you know the true reason why Korea became "anti-Japan"?

Akira Ikegami is a very famous commentator in Japan. In addition, many Japanese people believe he is a trustful and politically-neutral person. However, that's obvious, the program is a type of hate Korea business. Unfortunately, the program was able to have very strong influence to many people.

Of course, the program induced some controversies. But surprisingly, a more horrific problem was revealed. Some audiences who have knowledge of Korean language they found out fake subtitles were used onto comments of Korean interviewees.

One of those scenes:

Source of this image: change.org - to Fuji TV: Please don't make more falsehood!
Subtitle: I hate Japan because it hurt Korea.
But she said: (Subject is unknown) has many cultures thus many foreign tourists have visited to (unknown).
*It can't identify from the program that she said about Japan or Korea or others. Fuji TV claims she said about Korea.

On 29 June, Fuji TV admitted the subtitles are untrue and posted a message of apology on its website. The TV station claims the problem is "mistake".

I can't forgive Fuji TV and Mr.Ikegami. The program is one of shameful hate-Korea business even if they didn't use false subtitles. Furthermore, Mr.Ikegami is famous and "trustful" commentator, his action is things like put a "the quality is guaranteed by Ikegami" label to the falsehood program.

Mr.Ikegami, was believed "neutral" commentator by many people, who had criticized some thing like Asahi newspaper about a controversial comfort women problem, now he fueled hatred/racism and aided to broadcast the falsehood to whole of Japan. I think he has to shoulder the very heavy and huge responsibility. And Fuji TV, Of course, It must have sense of shame.

熊出没 - 2014-03-09 02:14:38

It isn't easy to learn a new language. We must put a lot of effort into the studies. But studies can be painful, joyless and endless.

Even though no pain is no gain, joyless studies are inefficient. Interesting TV and radio programs will help the studies. Luckily we can watch/listen foreign contents by the internet.

I sometimes watch a Chinese animation 熊出没(Xióng chūmò/Bears spotted) to study Chinese.

This animation has been provided by CCTV, a debatable broadcaster. Because the broadcaster is criticized against their stance - very close to Chinese government.(Similar to today's Japanese NHK. The NHK's boss Mr.Momii said "We can't say 'left' when the government said 'right'". I think it is the most important role of mass-media to say "the crow is black" even if the government strongly said "the crow is white".)

However, this animation is an animation, probably hasn't any political colors.(But the animation drew the fight between a human woodcutter and animals in the forest. We might find very shallow satire against the environment of China or whole humanity.) You can watch it for fun or to study Chinese without pointless worry. Of course, Chinese subtitles are available for all words!

The story of the animation is too simple, like "Tom and Jerry" or other short films. 光头强 the woodcutter tries to chop woods in the forest. Brothers of bears 熊大, 熊二 and other animals try to impair his work for save their living place. The animals are anthropomorphic - can speak Chinese, can make a conversation with humans and can use modern tools if necessary.

熊大(Xióngdà): A brown bear. He is not only a powerful bear, he is also too clever. Sometimes he finds out Guangtou Qiang's traps and changes it to his advantage, sometimes he entraps Guangtou Qiang ingeniously.
He can use a rifle or modern weapons when he captures it from Guangtou Qiang. Although he and his friends usually use "natural" weapons like stones, wood catapults or honeycombs.

熊二(Xióngèr): A yellow bear. He is greedy and not much clever. He is easily entrapped by Guangtou Qiang. But he is powerful and his action often beats Guangtou Qiang.

Other animals: 松鼠(Sōngshǔ/squirrel), birds, a monkey or other animals often appear. They anger against Guangtou Qiang and try to protect the forest with the bears.

光头强(Guāngtóu Qiáng): A human woodcutter. He isn't stronger than bears but he armed with a chainsaw and a hunting rifle. Also he can use a bulldozer or other strong cars/equipments.
He often remodels from general equipments to over-technological ones. e.g. a strong car like a tank or an armored car, a super strong fan(can blow bears), a super chainsaw(can chop a big tree at one strike and can smash a rock) or a vending machine with capturing arms.
I don't understand why he doesn't become a mechanical engineer.

李老板(Li Lǎobǎn, "老板" means "boss"): He hasn't appeared in the screen but he often rings to Guangtou Qiang. Because Guangtou Qiang doesn't chop a sufficient amount of woods, he is almost angry.
Sometimes he sends some goods for Guangtou Qiang. One day he sent a mobile phone to survey Guangtou Qiang's work. One day also he sent a medal.(The award of "the worst woodcutter in the record")
